RANT!!! Stop Being a Bitch, Start Taking Action and Jump in the Positive Feedback Loop!

22 Comments | Category: Dating Tips-Inner

Tyler said I needed a rant, and as I’ve been trying to record my vBlogs in more extreme social pressure environments, I thought why not go HARDCORE and HIT IT UP in Times Square.

Haha, I had a specific theme in mind for this one, with fast cuts, lots of yelling, the house track underneath, all while trying to maintain some semblance of content to get you learning some key lessons as well.

Also, at the end I mention my Freetour schedule, which has been getting lots of dudes in attendance, as well as my bootcamp schedule getting straight STACKED! So looking forward to all the guys that are attending those programs.

Here’s the schedule again real quick…

Oh yeah, filling up quick!

Well, lets get right into this shit now!!!

Full rant mode.

Well, I’m rarely actually pissed, and you can prolly tell this is a bit jokingly done.

I think in the future I can go full out with the anger, but I’ve got some other ideas up my sleeve for the next few weeks of vids.

Any topics you want me to discuss?

Let me know in the comments section below!

Also, GOD DAMN!!!! I’ve been combing through old posts on the blog looking for a few examples of various topics, and there are some AMAZING old posts on here.

I feel like it’s a bit of a lost gem sometimes, literally HUNDREDS of posts. I was rereading some of my old field reports from when I was in Europe a few years back, and the enthusiasm I had at the time was palpable.

So take a look through some of the older posts man, here are a few examples of ones I really enjoyed while combing the site:

The Cold Hearted Player Part 2
You Hook. You Pull. (Learn the Mindset to Conquer Logistical Nightmares)
Tone Comes From Your Finger Tips (How to Succeed in Business, Health, Women, and Life)

Damn, I used to write so much, although I like the new vBlog format better at the moment. More fun to play as a semi-pro videographer.

Ooops… And always… ENJOY!

Great stuff Brad! I like how you did this in Times Square in front of EVERYONE, literally, not reacting to any of the b.s. around you. Completely in your own reality. I have those same low level thoughts (oh that guy in his Versace suit with the Ferrari, he’s so cool, etc. and how my shirt looks, just completely self doubt) and i just remember to reframe it into self love. At least I am out taking action and putting my personality on the line, growing, evolving, and being a man. How is this moment awesome and why am I awesome?

Maybe you can do a vblog about self-love and how society teaches us to be modest and not confident and appreciative of things we have worked hard to attain?

Cheers!

Yep, I’ve got one in the works about extreme self love. :) I like the society/social condtioning angle, I’ll try to incorporate that in it too.

the video quality is better – what’s your rig / lighting setup? It looks great!

Thanks, I recently upgraded to a Canon 5D Mark III, which seems to be like buying a god damn boat, because then I had to buy a lens, separate audio recorder, nicer tripod, ND filter, etc. But it’s mostly the camera and playing with the aperture and ISO to get the nice lighting while maintaining the wider depth of focus.

Damn Brad, that was sweet. You definitely are improving with each new video. I loved how you were in front of 100′s of people and was still the same dude. This is something I’m working towards. I can’t wait for your self love clip. Also do you have anymore “emotion” videos in the pipeline.

Thanks again dude and keep up the awesome work. :)

Thanks man. I’m always trying to amp up the social pressure, unstifle myself, and kill it in front of the camera :)

Great video. Noticed too how at the beginning of a night, the inner head talk can rear its ugly head, so just tell it to shutup & concentrate on awesomeness! I think Tim & tyler both mentioned this, as how we have 2 different personalities chode & alpha, which constantly battle for attention. BTW just re-read the Tone comes from your finger tips, and must say its pure gold! Keep up the great work, and the videos are getting better (though didn’t like the jump cuts in this. But audio was great for being in times square). Also should play with depth of field (keep aperture around 2.8/4 split) as this gives a nice filmic look!

Have a good one.

Thanks! Yeah, I had a pretty high aperture in this one to try and take in the background too. Owen always gets pissed when I blur the backdrop if it’s a bomb backgrund, but I like the cinematic shallow depth of field so much more too! Also, thanks for noticing the sound, I updated that rig recently as well…

Makes total sense now… As I’ve been wondering why other rsd videos have a deep focus. To me it detracts from the speech, but to each their own I guess. I can see Owen’s objective in requesting that.

But Brad, if you want to get into learning some more DSLR filmmaking techniques for side projects. I recommend checking out Stillmotion or Shane hurlbut’s blogs. Both have great tutorials for Storytelling with these cameras. Oh, and as lighting is always key in filmmaking, read: Placing Shadows. This book changed how I think about light, as it’s actually more about placing the shadows in a scene, which make it pop!

The self love and narcissism is at an all time high! The parody style (but with serious undertones) of the video is fantastic. I like it – turn the self doubt into self love! I want to see another rant!

Haha I like the “rant” pic… It’s interesting seeing you try to be mad about things, when it doesn’t look like you get mad about to many things. But great video man I’m in that stage where i see all of my friends just chilling scared to talk to girls while i’m the only one that goes and hopes for the best. I really do think I prefer to go into a set by myself instead then with a friend, because all they do is awkwardly stand next to me. I’m about to go on my own rant.

Hey dude, one of your alumni from September in NYC checking in.

The momentum I’ve been carrying is sick! I feel like the epiphanies from the program get more solid with every new night out. I am also in a good mood pretty much at all times and I am not intimidated by any venue or approach if I am going in with buddies. I can crank up the fun vibe and self amuse with less social conditioning restraint B/S with every night out.

Still have to hit warmups while going solo, but even flying solo is a lot easier than before.

Thanks for the help, I appreciate it and posted a lengthy documentation of my experience on the forums.

PS- travel schedule looks sick, conveniently head for Australia now that the States are starting to get cold

Hey man!! Sweet, happy to hear you are making solid progress. I actually talked with my buddy last night about going out sober solo. Yep I’m skipping winter haha

The title of this was inspiring enuff. From the advice Ive read over in your articles, I was able to not attract a girl, but rather my whole fucking class. We had a free day and I managed to make myself of value and keep my entire class entertained throughout a 4 hours class period, which would have been everyone in their own bubble listening to their ipods or sleeping. Instead I brought everyone together and turned it into literally a party.

Hey brad, you sometimes mention that you are taking an improv class at Chicago. I just went to an improv studio in my city and watched their show. It… was… AMAZING. I can see how an improv class could help my game, but am not sure if I should commit to taking a 3 month class. What are some specific things that you learned at improv class that helped your game improve?

It is an amazing experience, and I highly recommend checking it out. I just finished up the second level and will continue taking classes.
